As I slowly got moving this morning, I relished in being able to take my time. The boys have a four day weekend for the holiday. Alarms were turned off last night as the kids were tucked in. This morning as I snuggled with A and D, the thought came to me, "We are almost there!" On June 9, school is out for summer. God willing, I will be the mother of a sixth grader (P), third grader (D), K5 kid (M), and an almost 2 year old (A).
I am relishing the thought of summer. I think it is getting easier as they get older. Yes, this year will be busy with an almost 2 year old who will need to be followed as she doesn't have the experience yet to know not to run in the street, but I do think this is going to be a great summer!
P is joining a pre-competitive swimming program. His swim teacher has already told me he is moving up to level 6 (the last level before life-guarding), so we thought it would be good for him to gain the experience he will need if he chooses to do swim team in high school. D and M will continue with weekly lessons throughout the summer. Needless to say, all three boys are swimming on Tuesday nights, and P will be at a different high school meaning my DH and I will be going in 2 different directions. We usually take summers off, but I am looking forward to this activity for the boys this summer.
I do have to work this summer, and am grateful for the hours. I even like my schedule. I have one night shift, one day shift (mostly during A's nap time) and Saturday mornings. Between this and the web research that I am doing for work, I am thankful that I will not be worrying about lack of hours this summer while I still get to spend time in my favorite activity-being a mother!
So, I write this with excitement and gratitude...SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE!
***Did you notice I let go of the nick-names? The boys did not like the Super Mario themed names I had given them, so in order to please them and still keep the anonymity, I will refer to them by an initial.

I was trying to come up with a word (using only their first initial) that would work for when you are talking about all 4 of them. You could call them "DAMP"!! The DAMP children!!
Ok, enough of that silliness! I was thinking about swimming and I think that's such an awesome sport to have your kids involved in! Is it through the YMCA?
We don't have any swim teams around here...other than the "Y".
Anyway, swimming is a life skill that they will use all their lives!
Excellent!
It is through our park and rec. The Y is way too expensive. Peter will be swimming in another park and rec's program, although our city's is talking about adding a similar program come fall.
Yay! I can leave comments here!! I can't on Christine's. Can't figure out why.
We finished school today. Well, we have a little left, but not much and it's officially done.
A swimming summer sounds great!!
It definetely will not be a sitting on the porch summer with our little girlies!!
Thanks for comment on the pool! Being I have no idea what I am doing...especially with the chemicals I am hoping this will be easy and fun for the kids.
Do you ever think of going bigger?
Summer sounds grand. I hope you all really do enjoy it!!!!
Commenting about a prior post and all that calling nonsense: I am where you're at. I can talk to just about anyone in front of me, stranger or not (which explains why a five minute errand into a grocery store takes me yonks!), but on the phone? That takes time. I chatted Jamie once - but every time since I've tried to ring her up, her number just rings and rings and rings. JAMIE????? What's up with that? ;)
Just thought you should know you're not alone.
